{"id":1039,"date":"2023-02-16T11:12:46","date_gmt":"2023-02-16T02:12:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hommamuseum-en.com\/?p=1039"},"modified":"2023-02-16T11:12:46","modified_gmt":"2023-02-16T02:12:46","slug":"letter-from-tokugawa-hidetada-addressed-to-ando-tatewaki-alternate-name-naotsugu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hommamuseum-en.com\/?p=1039","title":{"rendered":"Letter from Tokugawa Hidetada, addressed to Ando Tatewaki (alternate name: Naotsugu)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">24 June (Year unknown)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Donated by the Homma family<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is a letter from Tokugawa Hidetada to And\u014d Naotsugu (1555\u20131635) expressing his thanks for the gift of five sparrowhawk chicks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And\u014d Naotsugu had served the warlord Tokugawa Ieyasu from an early age. In 1603, alongside other figures including Honda Masazumi, he participated in the event for the Imperial proclamation of Ieyasu as the first<em> sh<\/em><em>\u014d<\/em><em>gun <\/em>of the Edo <em>bakufu<\/em>. In 1610, upon orders of Ieyasu, Naotsugu was appointed as the chief retainer of Tokugawa Yorinobu, the first lord of the Kii-Wakayama domain.
