{"id":1041,"date":"2023-02-16T11:20:59","date_gmt":"2023-02-16T02:20:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hommamuseum-en.com\/?p=1041"},"modified":"2023-03-01T12:21:17","modified_gmt":"2023-03-01T03:21:17","slug":"letter-to-honda-masazumi-addressed-to-honda-masanobu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hommamuseum-en.com\/?p=1041","title":{"rendered":"Letter to Honda Masazumi, addressed to Honda Masanobu"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">14 January 1608<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Donated by the Homma family<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is a letter from Honda Masazumi (1566\u20131637) to his father, Honda Masanobu, who was the governor of Sado Province.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tokugawa Ieyasu\u2019s newly-built castle, Sumpu Castle (in present-day Shizuoka City), was destroyed by fire on 22 December 1607. Following this, Ieyasu took refuge in Masazumi\u2019s residence. At this time, Masazumi was one of Ieyasu\u2019s close associates, and had been made a daimy\u014d in what is now present-day Tochigi Prefecture, with an income of 33,000 koku.
