In 1937, he moved to Tokyo and studied at the Kawabata School of Painting. He studied under Yasui S\u014dtar\u014d from 1939, and for a while was active in the Issuikai and Nitten Japan Fine Arts Exhibition organizations, before moving to Europe at the age of 46 to study at the Acad\u00e9mie Grande Chaumi\u00e8re in Paris, France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His return to Japan was well-received by the art community, culminating in various prizes, including the Kikka Award at the Nitten Japan Fine Arts Exhibition.
