He returned to the United States and received an award from the Woodstock Artists Association in 1932. In 1934, he worked as an assistant-artist to Diego Rivera on his murals, before creating his own mural titled<em> Immigrants <\/em>before returning back to Japan. In 1935, he exhibited at the prestigious Nika Exhibition, and again returned to the United States the following year. In 1937 he came back to Japan and became a member of the Shinseisaku Art Society.
