{"id":2640,"date":"2023-07-12T09:53:23","date_gmt":"2023-07-12T00:53:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hommamuseum-en.com\/?p=2640"},"modified":"2023-07-13T19:20:19","modified_gmt":"2023-07-13T10:20:19","slug":"arhat-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hommamuseum-en.com\/?p=2640","title":{"rendered":"Arhat"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mid to Late Muromachi period (15<sup>th<\/sup>-16<sup>th<\/sup> century)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tangible Cultural Property, designated by Sakata city<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Donated by the Homma family<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While this painting\u2014which likely depicts one of the Sixteen Arhats\u2014was said to have been painted by Kitsusan Minch\u014d (1352\u20131431), stylistically speaking it is more likely to date from the mid to late Muromachi period.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This work depicts an arhat sitting on a rock, lost in thought and gazing off into the distance. The linework and brushstrokes suggest a certain spontaneity in its creation.
