{"id":2743,"date":"2023-07-12T11:15:00","date_gmt":"2023-07-12T02:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hommamuseum-en.com\/?p=2743"},"modified":"2024-03-12T17:15:20","modified_gmt":"2024-03-12T08:15:20","slug":"a-certificate-for-proof-of-identity-issued-by-natsuka-masaie-addressed-to-the-hashiba-dewa-chamberlain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hommamuseum-en.com\/?p=2743","title":{"rendered":"A certificate for proof of identity issued by Natsuka Masaie, addressed to the Hashiba Dewa Chamberlain"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">March 19th 1592 (Bunroku 1)&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tangible Cultural Property, designated by Sakata city,&nbsp; \u201cFutaki Documents\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Donated by the Homma family<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is a certificate issued by Natsuka Masaie (1562?\u20131600), one of the five magistrates of the Toyotomi family, to Mogami Yoshiaki, Hashiba Dewa Chamberlain and a powerful daimy\u014d in the Tohoku region.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Known as a <em>kasho<\/em>, this document was a type of passport or shogunal passage documents used to ensure its bearer enjoyed free passage. It shows that Yoshiaki\u2019s ten sailing vessels within his territory were allowed to dock at any port.
