{"id":2863,"date":"2023-07-12T14:11:44","date_gmt":"2023-07-12T05:11:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hommamuseum-en.com\/?p=2863"},"modified":"2023-07-12T14:11:44","modified_gmt":"2023-07-12T05:11:44","slug":"shogi-piece-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hommamuseum-en.com\/?p=2863","title":{"rendered":"Sh\u014dgi Piece"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Tepp\u014dya Kisai&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meiji era (19<sup>th<\/sup> century)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tangible Cultural Property, designated by Sakata city<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Homma Museum of Art Collection<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Crafted by Tepp\u014dya Kisai (born Asakichi Suzuki, 1863-1927), Sakata\u2019s representative wood-joiner, this is a sh\u014dgi piece in which the character on the piece was written by calligrapher and sh\u014dgi eighth rank-holder Kish\u016b Takenouchi. The piece makes use of Ch\u014dkai boxwood, which grows at the foot of Mount Ch\u014dkai, and in addition to the sh\u014dgi piece set, there\u2019s also a sh\u014dgi board, a sh\u014dgi piece stand, a sh\u014dgi piece bag and a paulownia wood box for the sh\u014dgi pieces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In April 1918 (Taish\u014d 7), Kish\u016b Takenouchi won a string of victories against the eighth rank holder Inoue Yoshio, and was promoted to the eighth level himself.
