{"id":2925,"date":"2023-07-12T14:53:19","date_gmt":"2023-07-12T05:53:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hommamuseum-en.com\/?p=2925"},"modified":"2023-07-12T14:53:19","modified_gmt":"2023-07-12T05:53:19","slug":"letter-from-mogami-yoshiaki-addressed-to-nishino-michitoshi-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hommamuseum-en.com\/?p=2925","title":{"rendered":"Letter from Mogami Yoshiaki, addressed to Nishino Michitoshi"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>November 24th 1587 (Tensh\u014d 15)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tangible Cultural Property, designated by Sakata city<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Donated by the Homma family<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a letter from Mogami Yoshiaki(1546\u20131614), a daimy\u014d of the Yamagata Domain in Dewa Province, informing Nishino Michitoshi, a vassal of Onodera Yoshimichi of Yokote (in present-day Akita Prefecture) of his decision to pacify the Sh\u014dnai district.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After the death of Mut\u014d Yoshiuji (Daih\u014dji) (1551\u201383), the feudal lord of the Sh\u014dnai district and the 17th head of the Daih\u014dji clan, his younger brother Yoshioki regained power with assistance from Uesugi Kagekatsu. However, in 1587, Mogami Yoshiaki led major forces to expand his territory in the Sh\u014dnai area.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this letter, Yoshiaki also expresses his gratitude towards the Onodera clan for their gift of a horse as a celebration of his conquest of Sh\u014dnai; and states that the Rokug\u014d clan should be forgiven for their crimes, noting that arrangements should be made to ensure their usefulness in future.
