{"id":2993,"date":"2023-07-13T18:51:50","date_gmt":"2023-07-13T09:51:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hommamuseum-en.com\/?p=2993"},"modified":"2023-07-13T18:51:50","modified_gmt":"2023-07-13T09:51:50","slug":"farewell-to-sonehara-rokei-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hommamuseum-en.com\/?p=2993","title":{"rendered":"Farewell to Sonehara Rokei\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Fukuhara Gogaku&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mid-Edo period (18<sup>th<\/sup> century)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tangible Cultural Property, designated by Yamagata Prefecture<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Donated by the Homma family<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Highly regarded for his landscapes and portraits, Fukuhara Gogaku (1730\u201399) was a bunjinga \u2018literati painting\u2019 painter who studied under Ike no Taiga (1723\u20131776), one of the most prominent artists in the literati world.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This painting was created as a parting gift to Sonehara Rokei, a Sakata-born poet whom Gogaku had met at \u201cKontonsha,\u201d a Classical Chinese poetry group in Osaka; at the time, Rokei had to return to his hometown due to illness. Rokei is pictured holding a seven-stringed zither, an instrument he had mastered; Gogaku, who loved sake, is depicted with a cup of sake.
