Moving to T\u014dky\u014d, he studied under Fujishima Takeji at the Kawabata School of Painting. Afterwards, he studied at the Maeda Kanji Research Center and the Taiheiy\u014d Art Association Research Institute, learning under Nakagawa Kazumasa and Yoshida Hiroshi. From the 1930s, his work was featured widely by the likes of the Association of 1930 Exhibit and the Shun-y\u014d-kai, and in 1937 he opened his own private gallery.
