While studying at the T\u014dky\u014d Metropolitan Kogei High School, his work was selected for both the 5<sup>th<\/sup> Association of 1930 Exhibition and the 1<sup>st<\/sup> Dokuritsu Exhibition. After graduating, he studied under the likes of Satomi Katsuz\u014d and Fukuzawa Ichir\u014d of the Dokuritsu Bijutsu Research Center. Thereafter, most of his activities centered around the Dokuritsu Exhibition, winning many prizes. His activities also involved instructing the next generation of artists.
