The play depicts a love story between a blind musician named Asagao\u2014the \u2018morning glory\u2019 of the tale\u2014and the handsome samurai Miyagi Asojir\u014d. Here, she is playing the koto (Japanese zither) and recounting her tragic story to a guest at the inn.
