As a hard worker, Tsunenobu was promoted to the rank of<em> h<\/em>\u014d<em>in<\/em> (the highest rank of painter) and succeeded his uncle Kan\u014d Tan\u2019yu as head of the Edo Kan\u014d School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This painting depicts Monju, bodhisattva of transcendent wisdom, holding a sutra in his right hand with the upper half of his body visible through the clouds.
