{"id":621,"date":"2022-10-11T16:48:49","date_gmt":"2022-10-11T07:48:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hommamuseum-en.com\/?p=621"},"modified":"2022-11-30T12:50:20","modified_gmt":"2022-11-30T03:50:20","slug":"final-breath-by-kenko-yoshida","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hommamuseum-en.com\/?p=621","title":{"rendered":"Vanishing Breath"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Kenk\u014d Yoshida<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nanboku-ch\u014d period (14th century)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Acquired in 2015 (donated by Norio Homma)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kenk\u014d Yoshida (1282\u20131350) was a poet and essayist who lived during the late Kamakura period (1185\u20131333) and Nanboku-ch\u014d period (1392\u20131333), and is known as the author of <em>Tsurezuregusa<\/em> (<em>Essays in Idleness<\/em>), considered one of Japan\u2019s Three Great Writings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u3000<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This particular piece of penmanship, written against the backdrop of the unrest of the Nanboku-ch\u014d Wars, has a secretive undertone. It writes: &#8220;There is someone whose purpose should be inquired after, will you come? In any case, please ask like the wind. Today or tomorrow would be especially desirable.\u201d The name Kasuga-dono (Lord Kasuga) is thought to refer to Akinobu Kitabatake (Left General Kasuga, \u20131380), a court noble and important supporter of the Southern Court against Takauji Ashikaga of the Northern Court.
