{"id":643,"date":"2022-10-11T16:58:54","date_gmt":"2022-10-11T07:58:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hommamuseum-en.com\/?p=643"},"modified":"2022-11-30T12:53:20","modified_gmt":"2022-11-30T03:53:20","slug":"designated-cultural-property-of-sakata-city-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hommamuseum-en.com\/?p=643","title":{"rendered":"Minsai-fu poetic exposition"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Designated Cultural Property of Sakata City<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">S\u014den Shunoku<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Acquired in 1965 (donated by the Homma family)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u3000<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">S\u014den Shunoku (1529\u20131611) was a Rinzai Zen monk of the Momoyama period and the 111th head priest of Daitoku-ji Temple. He was given the highest acclaim of National Teacher Taih\u014d Enkan by Emperor Go-Y\u014dzei. His many pupils included Sen no Riky\u016b (the politically influential tea master who first codified the <em>chanoyu <\/em>way of tea ceremony), Oribe Furuta (a daimy\u014d and disciple of Riky\u016b), and Sen no S\u014dtan (the grandson and third-generation successor of Riky\u016b).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u3000<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;\u201c<em>Minsai<\/em>\u201d had been inscribed on a <em>hengaku<\/em> plaque in the study of an enlightened elder. When asked what it meant, Shunoku responded by writing a short<em> ge<\/em> of four words and four phrases.
