{"id":677,"date":"2022-10-11T17:26:03","date_gmt":"2022-10-11T08:26:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hommamuseum-en.com\/?p=677"},"modified":"2022-10-12T01:44:23","modified_gmt":"2022-10-11T16:44:23","slug":"designated-cultural-property-of-sakata-city-7","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hommamuseum-en.com\/?p=677","title":{"rendered":"Commentary on the Wakan R\u014deish\u016bsh\u014d"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Designated Cultural Property of Sakata City<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By Kitamuki Unchiku<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1695<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Homma Museum of Art Collection<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Known as the foremost Noh calligrapher of his time, Kitamuki Unchiku (1632-1703) excelled in all three different writing forms: the regular script (<em>kaisho<\/em>), semi-cursive script (<em>gyosho<\/em>) and cursive script (<em>sousho). <\/em>He is also famous for being Matsuo Bash\u014d\u2019s calligraphy teacher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Wakan R\u014deish\u016b is an anthology of Chinese poems and 31-syllable Japanese waka for singing to fixed melodies, first compiled by Fujiwara no Kint\u014d ca.1013. This book contains six Chinese poems and six waka poems extracted from the first volume of the Wakan R\u014deish\u016b.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From the date written at the scroll\u2019s end, we know that it was written in 1695, when Unchiku was 64 years old.
