The reverse side includes the name of its owner, &#8220;Tanui Izo&#8221; (Tan\u2019I Igura), written in red.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>he name \u2018kurikuri\u2019 (literally \u2018round\u2019 or \u2018curling\u2019) refers to the spiral designs in the carved lacquer; this particular lacquer technique involves carving a design into black lacquer built up of many thin layers.
