Yasara dolls are traditional dolls from the Tarukawa district of Yuza, Higashi-Tagawa in Yamagata Prefecture. These straw dolls appear during Girls Festival (the fourth day of the fourth month in the old lunar calendar), when residents pray for the safety and good health of families as they float straw dolls down the Urasawa River.
