Yoshio Mori
1908-1997
Born in Tokyo. Studied at the Hongo Institute of Painting and 1930 Society, and exhibited at the 1930 Society, Nika, and Free Artist Association Exhibitions. After moving to France in 1931, he exhibited at the Salon d’Automne. In 1936 he was awarded the ‘D’ prize at the Free Artist Association Exhibition. In 1964 he helped to establish the Shutai Bijitsu Association and presented artwork in not only this exhibition, but the Peace Art Exhibition, International Art Exhibition Japan, Contemporary Art Exhibition of Japan, and more. His works are characterised by a poetic style composed of lines, surfaces and shadows.
