Costumed Doll Young Boy

Genroku era (1688–1704) Donated by Saitō Shōji

Depicting a beautiful young boy, this doll is named after Nagoya Sanza, a legendary figure who, along with Okuni of Izumo, is considered to be the founder of kabuki theater. The doll’s dignified expression and clothing are similar to those of the Takeda dolls made in Osaka.
