Utagawa Yoshitomi (dates of birth and death unknown) was an ukiyo-e artist during the Bakumatsu (the last years of Shogunal rule) and Meiji era, and a follower of Utagawa Kuniyoshi. During the Man’en and Bunkyū eras (1860-1864) he worked on Yokohama-e (woodblock print ukiyo-e depicting Yokohama from the end of the Edo period to the beginning of the Meiji era), moving to the port itself during the early Meiji era in 1873, and changed his name to Hōshū. He mainly painted genre and historical works and also created illustrations for newspapers.
