This is a partial document from the “Meigetsu-ki”, the diary of Fujiwara no Teika (1162-1241), a representative poet of the early Kamakura Period. The “Meigetsu-ki” is a diary which is said to have been written between February of 1180 and August of 1241, and this partial document contains the entries from January 22nd-23rd, 1201.
The contents of the entries concern the imperial visit and audience engaged in by Emperor Tsuchimikado to express his greetings on the coming of the new year to the retired emperor and empress dowager at Nijo Palace.
