Written in the hand of Soejima Taneomi
Meiji era (19th century)
Donated by Homma Yusuke
This is a letter from Soejima Taneomi (1828-1905) to Sanya Fujitarō/Tomita Zenshirō, samurai of the former Shōnai Domain. The missive contains greetings to the former lord of Shōnai Domain, Sakai Tadazumi, and former domanial elder Suge Sanehide, and also asks after the health of Tadazumi’s younger brother, Sakai Tadamichi, who had been taken ill.
Sanya and Tomita were the first individuals from Shōnai whom Soejima encountered, which occurred in 1884.
