Roof Tiles Featuring Paulownia Crest Found During Excavation of Osaka Castle

Momoyama Period (16th Century)

Donated by Satō Kiyoharu

Roof tiles featuring gold leaf stamped paulownia crests have been found amongst the many relics excavated from the ruins of Osaka Castle, which was built by warlord Toyotomi Hideyoshi. This roof tile, with its paulownia crest, was passed down to our museum, and is among those excavated from Osaka Castle.
