Blanc de Chine censer

Ming to Qing dynasty (17th–18th century)

Donated by the Homma family

This white porcelain censer is said to have been fired at one of the Dehua kilns in Fujian Province, China. Characterized by its translucent milky white color, Blanc de Chine porcelain is called hakugо̄rai in Japan and is highly prized. This censer is believed to have been received as a gift by the Homma family in 1914.
