This Seto ware tea container bears the name Shunkei. Shunkei is the Dharma name of Kagemasa Katō Shirōzaemon, who is considered to be the founder of Seto ware.

This tea container was passed down to the Homma family by Shūgon Kikuchi, chief priest of Jōfuku-ji, the temple where the Homma family forebears are interred.
