Homma Museum of Art Collection
Jyakuen Itō (date of birth and death unknown) is a painter from the mid- to late Edo period, and is said to have been a disciple of Jakuchū Itō, a painter known for having odd ideas. Jyakuen was one of the most prolific posthumous painters connected to Jakuchū, and developed his own signature flourishes within the Jakuchū style.
With the aim of utilizing interesting shapes and techniques, the faces in this painting are shaped as triangles and the feathers are depicted with creases.
