Hina dolls of the Itō family

Late Edo period–Meiji period   Homma Art Museum Collection

These dolls—including kokin dolls, fabric pictures, hina doll accoutrements and more—were heirlooms belonging to the Itō family, and have been passed down from generation to generation, from the Edo period (1603–1868) to the Meiji period (1868–1912). The Itō family were village officials in the Uchimachi district of Sakata City for many generations.
