“Gosu-aoe” or “Gosu blue” ware refers to a type of overglaze enamel porcelain with a blue base from the late Ming dynasty known as “gosu-de”. Gosu-de was fired for export in the private kilns of Fujian and Guangdong provinces They are typically characterized a grayish-white base, with an uneven glaze bleeding onto its underside, with various floral, bird, and plant designs decorating its surface.
