Shidoro ware was produced in Shitoro Village in the province of Tōtōmi (present-day Shizuoka Prefecture). It flourished from the Muromachi period to the Edo period. It was one of Enshū’s Seven Kilns, with Shitoro ware artisans producing tea ceremony utensils favored by Enshū Kobori, a famous tea master held in high regard by feudal lords.
