The Suriage Shinbashi Bride (Suriage Bridge) was completed in 1873, and collapsed within only half a year. The bridge straddled the Suriage River in what is now Iizaka Onsen. Following the bridge’s collapse, a new bridge called the Totsunabashi was constructed in 1875. The current Totsunabashi Bridge was built in 1925, and having received a number of repairs, remains in use to this day.
